Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi assured the people of Telangana on Sunday that the Congress government in the state will honor its promises.
Sonia Gandhi extended her greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of the state’s Formation Day, expressing hopes for its swift development and prosperous future.
She delivered her message through a recorded video, which was played during the main official ceremony at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad to mark the 10th Telangana Formation Day.
Although the state government had invited her to the celebration, she was unable to attend due to health issues.
Sonia Gandhi emphasized that the people of Telangana had entrusted the Congress with the task of building a prosperous and developed state, and she felt it was her duty to realize those aspirations.
“Today, on this auspicious occasion, I want to assure you all that the Telangana Congress government, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, will leave no stone unturned to fulfill its guarantees,” she stated.
She paid tribute to the ‘countless martyrs of Telangana who laid down their lives for the formation of this great state.’
“In 2004 at Karimnagar, I promised the people of Telangana that the Congress would fulfill their dream. Despite dissidence within our party and many departures, your courage and determination gave me the strength and inspiration to fulfill that promise,” she said.
Sonia Gandhi expressed her gratitude for the respect and affection the people of Telangana have shown her over the past 10 years.
At the main official function, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unfurled the national flag and reviewed the police contingents.
This marks the first state Formation Day celebration since the Congress came to power in December of last year.
