Uttarkashi, Nov 24: Efforts to rescue 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district suffered a setback when the platform supporting the auger machine responsible for drilling debris collapsed on Thursday evening.
Girish Singh Rawat, a member of the rescue team, said, “Drilling work has been stopped until the platform is rebuilt. It may take about five to six hours to prepare the platform.”
Once the drilling is over, the trapped workers will be rescued and taken to the hospital,” he said.
A temporary CM Camp Office has been set up in Matali, In response to the ongoing rescue operation.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally assessed the situation in Silkyara and monitored the progress of the rescue operation. He also talked to the stranded workers using walkie-talkies.
