Bhubaneswar, October 30: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik honored state gymnast Pranati Nayak with a cash award of Rs 23 lakh for her extraordinary achievements at the 37th National Games in Goa.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Patnaik not only recognized Nayak’s achievements but also praised head coach Ashok Mishra for his significant contribution to the success of the Odisha gymnastics team.
Nayak’s stellar performance secured four gold medals and one silver medal, showcasing his unwavering dedication and extraordinary talent in gymnastics. Her campaign began with the coveted gold in the all-round event, followed by gold medals in the vault event, beam event and uneven bars apparatus. Despite narrowly missing out on the gold medal in floor exercise, Nayak still claimed a worthy spot on the podium with a silver medal.

CM Patnaik said, “Pranati Nayak’s achievements underline the talent developed in our state. Her excellent performance in the national games has made Odisha extremely proud.”
The Chief Minister promised unwavering support to Pranati in her future competitions.
VK Pandian, President, 5T and Nabin Odisha, who was also present at the event, said, “The commitment shown by such coaches and athletes serves as an inspiration for the transformation of sports in Odisha.”
Nayak, an athlete from the Odisha AMNS/India Gymnastics High-Performance Center located at the Kalinga Stadium, has benefited from the guidance of her coach Mishra. His constant pursuit of excellence, coupled with the guidance of his coach, has been crucial to his success.
Nayak and Mishra expressed their deep gratitude to CM Patnaik and thanked the state government for supporting and promoting gymnastics from the grassroots level to the elite level.
