Colombo, September 14: The next Super 4 match of Asia Cup 2023 is going to be played between India and Bangladesh on September 15. Bangladesh’s experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will not play in this match. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given this information.
The Super Four match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was played on 9 September in Colombo in which Bangladesh lost by 21 runs. After this match, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has returned from Sri Lanka to his country Bangladesh. It is being told that his daughter has been born in his house. Due to which Mushfiqur Rahim will not be able to play the further matches to be played in Asia Cup 2023.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that Mushfiqur Rahim was supposed to return to play the match between India and Bangladesh on September 15 but now he has extended his leave. So that at this time he can live with his newborn daughter and his wife Jannatul Kefayat Mondi.

Mohammad Jalal Younis, who is the acting chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), said that Mushfiqur Rahim has informed us that his wife Jannatul Kefayat Mondi is recovering after giving birth to a baby girl. It will take time for him to recover, so for now he needs to stay with his daughter and wife. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, we have decided to allow the India-Bangladesh match to be abandoned.
Mushfiqur Rahim is a very experienced wicketkeeper-batsman in Bangladesh team. He has scored 7,388 runs in 255 One Day Internationals at an average of 37.12. Which includes 45 half-centuries and 9 centuries. Besides, in this format he has also taken 55 stumpings and 222 catches while keeping wickets.
His journey in Asia Cup 2023 has not been anything special. He has scored a total of 131 runs in four innings, scoring one half-century. Has taken one stumping and five catches while wicket-keeping.
Bangladesh has lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, due to which Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the final of the Asia Cup are very slim.
