Following the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) 54-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 27, 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a significant penalty on LSG captain Rishabh Pant for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Pant was fined ₹24 lakh for his team’s second slow over-rate offence of the season during the match at Wankhede Stadium. Additionally, the rest of the playing XI, including impact player David Miller, have been fined ₹6 lakh or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser .
Pant’s batting performance also contributed to the team’s defeat, as he was dismissed for just 4 runs, continuing his struggles in the 2025 season with only 110 runs in 10 matches .
The BCCI’s action underscores the league’s commitment to maintaining discipline and adherence to its Code of Conduct, particularly concerning over-rate offences.
