Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during Match 49 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences. As this was PBKS’s first offence of the season, the fine was limited to ₹12 lakh .
Despite the over-rate infraction, PBKS secured a four-wicket victory over CSK, with Iyer contributing a crucial 72 runs off 41 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal also played a pivotal role, taking four wickets, including a hat-trick, which helped restrict CSK to 190 runs . This win has bolstered PBKS’s position in the points table, moving them closer to securing a spot in the playoffs.
