New Delhi, January 14 (UITV)- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a tough stand after India’s recent disappointing performance in Test cricket and has decided to ban players from going on tour with their families. India’s performance in the recent Test cricket has been quite disappointing, including a 0-3 loss against New Zealand at home and a 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series played in Australia.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken strict steps to deal with this situation. One of the important decisions is to prevent the players’ families and wives from accompanying them on the upcoming tour. The BCCI believes that this decision will help the players concentrate better and their performance will also improve.
This decision was taken in a review meeting held in Mumbai on Saturday. BCCI officials, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma participated in this review meeting. During the meeting, it was discussed that the presence of the players’ families can often distract them, especially when they are on foreign tours, which can have a negative impact on the players’ performance.
The BCCI has decided to re-implement the old rule implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, under which the families of the players will not be allowed to accompany them during the tour. According to information received from sources, under this new restriction, family members can stay with the players for only 14 days during a series or tournament lasting more than 45 days. At the same time, this limit has been reduced to only seven days for a short tour. The purpose of this is to ensure that the players’ focus remains only on the game and they are not allowed to spend more time with families.
Apart from this, the BCCI has also announced that all players will always have to travel with the team. The purpose of this new rule is to control cases where some players chose to travel separately, causing problems in the harmony and discipline of the team. The board has considered it harmful to the unity and organizational principle of the team.
The BCCI believes that this change will help improve the performance of the players and maintain unity among the team. Additionally, this step will also make the cricketers mentally strong, as they will be able to focus more on their game.
This decision also indicates that the BCCI is now prioritizing the disciplinary and mental state of the cricket team, so that the quality and performance of Indian cricket can be improved. This change can be an important step towards making the Indian cricket team more competitive at the international level in the future.
