In a recent IPL 2025 match at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieved a significant milestone by equaling Dwayne Bravo’s record for the most wickets taken by a pacer in IPL history. Representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Gujarat Titans (GT), Bhuvneshwar dismissed GT captain Shubman Gill, marking his 183rd IPL wicket.
This achievement places Bhuvneshwar alongside Bravo as the joint-highest wicket-taker among pacers in the league. Bravo reached this tally in 161 matches, while Bhuvneshwar accomplished it in 178 appearances. Currently, they share the third spot on the all-time IPL wicket-takers list, trailing only Yuzvendra Chahal (206 wickets) and Piyush Chawla (192 wickets).
Despite Bhuvneshwar’s commendable performance, RCB faced an eight-wicket defeat against GT. The match saw notable contributions from GT’s Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, who formed a pivotal 75-run partnership, leading their team to successfully chase down RCB’s target of 170 runs.
Bhuvneshwar’s consistent performance underscores his significant role in the IPL, and he now stands on the cusp of becoming the leading wicket-taking pacer in the tournament’s history.
