New Delhi, Sep 8 – Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed surprise over Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023. He says that everyone wants to keep a bowler like Chahal in their team.
Yuzvendra Chahal and left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh have not been included in the Indian squad for the One Day International World Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh says that at present Yuzvendra Chahal has not got a chance to play many One Day International matches and his performance in all the matches he has played has not been that special. But Chahal is such a bowler who works as a mainstay in the Indian team in white-ball matches. Chahal plays an important role in whiteball matches.
Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal are also not a part of Asia Cup 2023. Since 2022, Chahal has taken 24 wickets in 16 ODIs at an average of 27.9 and an economy rate of 5.5. Whereas left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has played only three One Day International matches, in which he has not taken any wickets. For all these reasons, Chahal and Arshdeep Singh have not been included in the World Cup team. Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja have been successful in making their place in the team due to their good form.
Harbhajan Singh says that Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal could have been very important for the team. Especially to get early wickets. Having him in the team would have proved useful for swinging the new ball and taking early wickets to put pressure on the opposition.
