In a statement, Mumbai wrote, “Today Mumbai Indians is announcing the change in captaincy. Mumbai Indians (MI) will be captained by all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the next season of IPL. Mumbai Indians (MI) was captained by Rohit Sharma and under his leadership, Mumbai has been successful so far.
The team further wrote, “Our team is always grateful to Rohit Sharma. His tenure from 2013 till now has been very excellent. Rohit Sharma is one of the best captains in IPL history.”
