Mumbai, December 12: The player auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be held in Dubai on December 19. The auction will be conducted for the highest reserve price of Rs 2 crore. 23 players have been selected for the highest salary category, which includes Australia captain Pat Cummins, Australian opener Travis Head, England’s young player Harry Bosh, former Australia captain Steve Smith, South Africa’s Riley Rossouw, England’s Chris Vox, India’s Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav are also included.
Of the 23 players who have been selected for the highest salary bracket, only three are Indians, while 20 are foreign cricketers. On Monday, Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), unveiled the roster for the IPL 2024 player auction. 333 players are going to be included in the auction at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Of these, 119 are foreign players and 214 are Indians. Of the 119 foreign players, two are from associate countries. The list includes 116 capped players and 215 uncapped players. Because they will now compete for the maximum of 77 slots available and 30 slots are available for foreign players.
23 players with the highest reserve price of Rs 2 crore and 13 players in the auction list with the base price of Rs 1.5 crore Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, Rovman Powell, Alzarri Joseph, Mitchell Starc, Chetan Sakariya, Manish Pandey, Umesh Yadav, Karun Nair, Jaydev Unadkat etc. are IPL regular players.

Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai and young sensation Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand, who performed brilliantly in the recently concluded Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, have opted for the Rs 50 lakh bracket. Regarding the players retained by the franchises for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition, the BCCI clarified that the 10 franchises have retained 173 players, including 50 overseas players, at a total cost of Rs 737.05 crore.
13 players have been retained by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and they have 12 slots available to fill the rest through the auction. Most of the franchises have retained 17 to 19 players. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has the highest total salary cap among all the teams at Rs 38.15 crore.
19 players have been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and they have the second-highest salary cap available at Rs 34 crore. Due to this, they need to fill six more slots.
