Guwahati, November 29: In the third T20 match against India, Glenn Maxwell played a brilliant inning and scored a century in 47 balls, giving Australia a spectacular victory while chasing the target of 223 runs. Maxwell came on the field in the last over. With the powerplay and a good start by Travis Heads, the onus was on to make a rapid comeback, especially with Marcus Stoinis struggling to find form.
Maxwell, known for his offensive float, took responsibility after Stoinis’ dismissal and scored 42 runs in 22 toy balls. Despite Ravi Bishnoi dismissing Tim David, Maxwell remained calm and made his home run by hitting a six off Arshdeep Singh.
With five overs required in the 78th over, India was favored, and the pressure increased further when Prasidh Krishna bowled the 18th over. Australia faced a steam room and needed the final two overs in 43 overs.

Matthew Wade’s contribution in the final over, which included two balls and a six off Axar Patel, eased the pressure on Maxwell. However, Australia was still short 21 runs in the last over. Veda started with a valve, allowing Maxwell to take the win. Keet famously hit six and three consecutive wickets, completing a record-breaking century in the process.
Maxwell’s century off 47 balls overtook Aaron Finch and Josh English’s record for the fastest century by any Australian in men’s T20Is. Additionally, Maxwell surpassed Rohit Sharma’s record for most centuries in men’s T20Is, scoring his fourth century in the format.
This amazing inning of Maxwell not only gave Australia a spectacular victory but also won the two-match T20 series. The next match will be held in Raipur on 1st December.
