Dubai, November 29: Namibia defeated Tanzania by 58 runs to book their place at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA. With a perfect record of five wins from five matches, Namibia currently top the table with 10 points, sealing their place in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The win against Tanzania ensured Namibia a top-two finish, meeting the qualification criteria for the prestigious event. Namibia have performed consistently well throughout the tournament, making this their third consecutive appearance at the Men’s T20 World Cup.
While Namibia has secured their place, the battle for the remaining qualification spot is still on. Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Nigeria are still in dispute. Uganda and Kenya control their own destiny, while Zimbabwe and Nigeria are dependent on favorable results in other matches.

Namibia’s journey in the qualifier tournament has been fantastic. In their opening match, they defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets with the help of Nicholas Devlin’s explosive 89 runs. After this, Namibia defeated Uganda by 6 wickets, Rwanda by 68 runs (DLS method), Kenya by 6 wickets and finally Tanzania by 58 runs.
Facing a test of batting depth against Tanzania, Namibia rose to the occasion by scoring 157 runs. Tanzania’s bowlers showed skill in restricting Namibia’s score, but vital cameos from Zane Green and Nicole Lofty-Eaton helped put a challenging target on the board. In reply, Tanzania could only manage 99/6, with Namibia’s bowlers preventing them from scoring freely.
