Sep 6 – Quinton de Kock, South Africa’s most famous wicketkeeper-batsman, is scheduled to retire from one-day international cricket after the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
He has played 140 One-Day Internationals for South Africa and has 17 centuries to his name. He has a 44.85 batting average and is noted for his aggressive batting technique.
Together with Viv Richards, Kevin Pietersen, and Jonathan Trott, the 30-year-old owns the record for the fastest 1000 runs in ODI cricket.
With a few years of international cricket left in him, his retirement from ODIs appears to be targeted at making the most of professional T20 cricket. He is set to continue for South Africa in T20Is and the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
