India got a penalty corner early in the match in the second minute and captain Harmanpreet made no mistake with a powerful drag flick into the back of the net to get the first goal and give India an early lead.
A few minutes before the first quarter, in the 13th minute of the match, Abhishek, in his aggressive style, defeated the South African goalkeeper and scored the second goal and doubled India’s lead.
South Africa attacked several times in the second quarter. But India’s defense did not allow them to succeed and played with complete patience. Sumit scored another field goal soon after the intermission in the 30th minute of the match and India took a 3–0 lead.
South Africa started showing momentum in scoring goals after the intermission, but the Indian defense strengthened its position. The third quarter saw a lot of action at both ends, but neither team managed to score a goal.
South Africa continued their attempts to score in the last 15 minutes of the game, but the Indian team did not give them any chance and maintained their hold in the circle. India secured a comfortable 3-0 win at the final whistle.
India will play its last match on South Africa tour against Netherlands on 28 January.
