Instagram, the renowned photo and video-sharing platform under Meta’s ownership, has introduced a groundbreaking feature allowing users to download Reels from public accounts, enhancing flexibility in saving and sharing favorite content.
In the announcement, Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, expressed, “Now, anyone globally can effortlessly download public Reels directly to their devices, eliminating the need for the traditional method of saving Reels within the Instagram app. No more reliance on third-party apps to get Reels.”
For users with public accounts, this feature is automatically enabled, making their Reels accessible to all Instagram users. However, to maintain privacy, account holders can adjust settings to prevent Reels from being downloaded. Users under 18 will have Reels download turned off by default, with the option to enable it if they choose.
How to Download Reels from Public Accounts:
1. Locate the Reel:Open the Instagram app, find the desired Reel (must be from a public account).
2. Access Share Options: Tap the three dots icon in the bottom right corner for menu options.
3. Select Download: In the menu, choose “Download” to initiate the Reel download.
Managing Download Settings for Account Holders:
1. Access Settings: Tap your profile picture, then navigate to “Settings” under the three horizontal lines icon.
2. Privacy Settings: In “Privacy,” select “Reels and Remix.”
3. Toggle Download Option: Under “Allow People to Download Your Reels,” toggle to enable or disable the download feature.
Characteristics of Downloaded Reels:
– Instagram Watermark:Downloaded Reels feature an Instagram watermark displaying the creator’s username and audio attribution.
– Original Audio: Downloaded Reels maintain the original audio, preserving the creator’s intended experience.
