Aug 11 – OpenAI has announced that the ‘custom instructions’ feature will be available to all ChatGPT users, even those on the free tier.
According to TechCrunch, this functionality gives consumers greater control over how ChatGPT replies.
The ‘custom instructions’ function was first offered last month as a beta for ChatGPT Plus members, allowing them to input preferences and needs for the AI chatbot to consider while responding.
The functionality saves users time by removing the need to recreate the same instructions prompts each time they engage with the AI chatbot.
Users can change or delete custom instructions for new discussions at any time.
Furthermore, the instructions of the users will not be shared with viewers of linked links.
If users delete their OpenAI accounts, any custom instructions associated with those accounts will be removed within 30 days.
Logan Kilpatrick, OpenAI’s first developer advocate and developer relations expert, announced last week a “huge set of ChatGPT updates.”
Kilpatrick highlighted new features such as example prompts, suggested responses, and follow-up questions, a default GPT-4 setting that remembers Plus users’ previously selected model every time they start a new chat, support for multiple file uploads for Plus users when using the OpenAI Code Interpreter plugin, and more.
Last month, OpenAI deactivated the Browse with Bing beta feature in ChatGPT, which was available to Plus subscribers.
This feature allowed ChatGPT to search the internet for answers to questions that would benefit from current information.
