Aug 20 – WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has announced that message editing capabilities for media with captions is now available on iOS.
“Added message editing support for media with captions,” according to the company’s official changelog.
In addition, the company is releasing an enhanced user interface (UI) with transparent bars and new action sheets. According to the changelog, the revamped sticker tray with easier navigation and a wider variety of stickers containing additional Avatars is still in the works.
According to the corporation, all of these functionalities will be available in the following weeks. On iOS, WhatsApp messaging app generally pushed out landscape mode support for video calls and the option to silence unknown callers last month.
Unknown calls can be silenced by navigating to Settings > Privacy > Calls. When transferring to a new device, the platform also added the ability to natively transfer full account history. Navigate to Settings > Chats > Transfer Chats to iPhone to utilise this feature. WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, began rolling out an animated avatar feature on iOS beta last week.
It is not necessary to utilise the beta version to obtain the animated avatars, thus beta users can share them with anyone. The animated avatars are expected to give stickers more life and personality, resulting in a better communication experience.
Last month, it was also reported that the company introduced an iOS beta functionality that allows users to send high-quality films. While this feature preserves video dimensions, minimal compression is still applied to the video, making it impossible to send videos in their original quality.
