In the recent installment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s widely followed monthly radio show “Mann Ki Baat,” Bollywood luminary Akshay Kumar shared profound insights into his fitness philosophy, encouraging the audience to adopt a natural and holistic approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Renowned for his unwavering commitment to well-being, Akshay Kumar underscored the significance of embracing practices that extend beyond the confines of upscale gyms. The actor disclosed that outdoor activities like swimming, playing badminton, climbing stairs, and integrating traditional exercises such as using the ‘Mudgar’ are pivotal components of his fitness regimen.
Challenging a common misconception, Kumar remarked, “I believe that pure ghee, if consumed in the right quantity, is beneficial for us.” This statement aimed to dispel concerns among young individuals who eschew ghee fearing weight gain.
Advocating for informed decisions in matters of fitness, the actor advised listeners to consult medical professionals rather than attempting to emulate the physiques of film stars. He shed light on the deceptive nature of on-screen appearances, emphasizing that actors often undergo digital enhancements, leading people to pursue misguided shortcuts for body transformation.
Expressing apprehension about the prevalence of shortcuts in fitness pursuits, particularly the use of steroids for achieving ‘six-pack’ or ‘eight-pack’ abs, Akshay Kumar issued a cautionary message. He warned against these shortcuts, emphasizing their potential to yield superficial results at the expense of internal health. “Friends, with such shortcuts, the body swells from outside but becomes hollow from inside. Remember that shortcuts can cut your life short,” he cautioned.
Encouraging a resolution for enduring fitness, Kumar rejected chemical-based approaches and shortcuts. He outlined a comprehensive approach encompassing regular exercise, yoga, consumption of nutritious food, maintaining a proper sleep schedule, incorporating meditation, and, crucially, embracing one’s natural appearance.
“Fitness is a kind of devotional effort. It shouldn’t be instant coffee or 2 minutes noodles. Promise yourself no chemicals, no shortcuts, and live a fitter life. From now onwards, don’t live a filter life, live a fitter life,” Akshay Kumar concluded, inspiring listeners to prioritize overall well-being over fleeting aesthetic goals.
