Toronto, Sep 15: York University, one of Canada’s premier institutions, as part of its broader engagement in India, has established the O.P. Jindal is launching a strategic partnership with Global University. Rhonda Lenton, President and Vice-Chancellor of York University, is currently visiting India to explore various avenues of collaboration including student exchanges, research partnerships and institutional linkages.
Lenton expressed York University’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with India and promoting mutually beneficial opportunities for both students and researchers. He highlighted the importance of the “India Immersion Program” in partnership with Jindal Global University, emphasizing the importance of Canadian students gaining a deeper understanding of India, its remarkable growth trajectory and its global impact.
During its visit to India, the Canadian delegation will also connect with prestigious institutions such as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in Bengaluru, IIT Madras and BITS Pilani in Hyderabad. In Hyderabad, where York University is already collaborating with GMR Institute of Technology for the Schulich School of Business MBA program in India, Lenton will participate in an education conference. She will share insights on York’s role in promoting excellence, inclusivity and global participation in the higher education sector.
In addition to these initiatives, plans for a nationwide entrepreneurship boot camp are underway in India. The objective of this program is to expose talented students to the world’s largest business and consumer market. Additionally, the University is set to launch a Global Research Seed Fund, which will support research collaborations with leading universities, industries, government agencies and NGOs in priority countries with a key focus on India.
