Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have rejected the Israeli ground military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that the two diplomats had a phone conversation during which a ceasefire was discussed. The two diplomats also discussed efforts to increase humanitarian aid in Gaza.
According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed that Israel should comply with its responsibilities. He also pushed for the opening of land border crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, which would allow for increased humanitarian aid to Gaza, and to stop the targeting of innocent civilians.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry urged that all displaced Palestinian citizens in northern Gaza should be allowed to return to their homes.
