An international conference is starting in Switzerland on Saturday, in which the Ukraine war will be discussed in detail. Prime Ministers and other high-level representatives of around 100 countries as well as international organizations are participating in this international conference. Representatives from 90 countries are to meet at the conference and discuss the path to peace for Ukraine.
They will discuss various issues, including the security of the Russian-held Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, grain exports from Ukraine, prisoner exchanges, etc.
This meeting has been organized on the initiative of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky and several leaders are directly arriving here to attend the meeting after attending the G7 summit held in Apulia, southern Italy.
About a fifth of Ukraine is currently occupied by Russia, including the Crimean peninsula it annexed in 2014.
This Swiss conference is organized to gather international support for Ukraine. The special thing about this conference is that countries that are friends with Russia are also participating in it.
A two-day international conference is starting today at the Burgenstock resort of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland to lay the groundwork for the peace process in the Ukraine war. Russia has not been invited to this conference. India is also participating in this conference. India will be the only South Asian country to participate in this conference. About half of the countries are from Europe, while half are from the rest of the world.
Switzerland hopes another such conference will be held this year, with Moscow also involved. Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and started a war, in which hundreds of soldiers were killed and wounded. Civilians are also casualties in this war. The infrastructure of Ukraine has also been destroyed by Russia’s shelling.
