Washington, October 19: US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that three drones targeting US forces in Iraq were successfully shot down. However, coalition forces suffered minor injuries in these incidents.
In a statement released Wednesday, CENTCOM said, “Over the past 24 hours, U.S. forces defended against three drones near U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. In western Iraq, U.S. forces engaged two drones, one Destroyed and damaged another, resulting in minor injuries to coalition forces. Separately in northern Iraq, U.S. forces attacked and destroyed one drone, resulting in no injuries or damage. We on Operations “We are continuing to assess the impacts.”
CENTCOM also stressed, “At this moment of grave alert, we are vigilantly monitoring the situation in Iraq and the region.”
It was not immediately clear who launched these drones or how they were shot down.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of rising tensions in the region, including the Israel-Hamas conflict.
