Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte have inked a significant agreement on security cooperation between their nations. This landmark 10-year pact, built upon the G7’s collective pledge of backing for Ukraine, was formalized in Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, as reported by Xinhua news agency on Friday.
Outlined within the agreement is the Netherlands’ commitment to allocate 2 billion euros (approximately $2.17 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine throughout 2024, with continued support planned for the years ahead.
Central to the deal is the provision of modern military equipment by the Netherlands to Ukraine, encompassing air defense systems, artillery, and armored vehicles. Additionally, the Netherlands has pledged assistance in enhancing Ukraine’s air and maritime capabilities, as well as bolstering its long-range capabilities.
Furthermore, the Netherlands has reiterated its unwavering support for Ukraine’s endeavors to join both the European Union and NATO.
In the preceding year, the Netherlands had already extended military support to Ukraine, amounting to 1.6 billion euros (approximately $1.73 billion).
