Moscow, December 9: Russian President Vladimir Putin will contest the presidential elections to be held in 2024 again. Which has been announced by Putin himself. According to a media report, this will be his third consecutive election and Putin will contest again for the sixth term overall.
The president announced at a ceremony in the Kremlin, according to a report in Russia Today. At the ceremony, Putin also awarded the ‘Hero of Russia’ medal to soldiers who were involved in special military operations in the war against Ukraine.
When Artyom Zoga, a Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic, asked President Putin a question about taking part in the 2024 presidential elections, in response, President Putin confirmed that he would take part in this election.
The Russian Constitution was amended in 2020, under which a person can hold the presidency for only two terms. This provision will not be applicable from earlier. Under this provision, Putin is eligible to contest the presidential elections. Vladimir Putin was first elected president in 2020 and returned to office in 2012 as prime minister. Before this, he held this post till 2008.
