Shefali Jariwala, popularly known for her iconic appearance in the song Kaanta Laga, tragically passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42. Her final hours were marked by a blend of spiritual devotion and routine wellness practices that she followed regularly. On the day of her death, Shefali had observed a Satyanarayan puja at her home in Oshiwara, Mumbai, and was also fasting as part of the religious observance. Despite fasting, she reportedly continued with her usual anti-aging treatments, including taking a glutathione injection and receiving a Vitamin C IV drip, which she had often used before.
According to close friends and initial reports, Shefali seemed fine during the day. She even had a light meal in the evening and was in good spirits. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, stepped out briefly to walk their dog at her request. Shortly afterward, their house help noticed Shefali was unresponsive and immediately informed Parag. When he returned, Shefali still had a faint pulse but was unconscious. Parag rushed her to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital, where she was unfortunately declared dead on arrival. The preliminary cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest, potentially triggered by a drop in blood pressure, possibly worsened by her fasting and intake of medications on an empty stomach.
A poignant twist to her story was her last Instagram video, posted just hours before her collapse. In the video, Shefali was seen dancing and sharing an inspiring message with her fans: “Start living life like everything’s working out in your favor. It is working out in your favor.” The video has since gone viral, serving as a heartbreaking final message from the actress.
Following her death, police and forensic teams visited her residence. They seized her supplements and medications and questioned the wellness provider who had administered the IV drip. Her death has currently been classified as accidental, though an autopsy and forensic analysis are underway. Her post-mortem, conducted at Cooper Hospital, did not yield a conclusive cause, and further results are awaited through viscera analysis.
On June 28, Parag Tyagi, surrounded by family and friends, performed Shefali’s last rites at the Oshiwara crematorium. The emotional ceremony continued the following day with the immersion of her ashes into the sea. Reports noted that Parag was inconsolable throughout the rituals. Adding to the emotional weight of the moment, Harmeet Singh, Shefali’s former husband, revealed that they had spoken on the phone for hours just before her death and that the conversation had felt especially meaningful.
As investigations continue, the entertainment world mourns the loss of a vibrant and beloved figure. Shefali Jariwala’s final hours—filled with spiritual devotion, personal rituals, and heartfelt connections—reflect a life that, while tragically cut short, left an indelible mark on her fans and loved ones.
