Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is enjoying an impressive run at the Indian box office, with early estimates suggesting the film could earn over ₹25 crore gross (around ₹21 crore nett) on its second day. If the trend continues, Saturday’s collection will represent a healthy 30–35% increase over its opening day performance.
The growth has largely been fueled by standard-format screenings, while IMAX and other premium large-format (PLF) shows, which already witnessed near-capacity occupancy on Friday, are expected to register a relatively modest increase of less than 20%. In contrast, occupancy in regular cinema formats has surged by nearly 50%, highlighting the film’s growing popularity among audiences.
With this performance, The Odyssey is expected to close its first two days with approximately ₹45 crore gross (around USD 4.7 million) in India. The film is now comfortably on track for a ₹70 crore-plus opening weekend, with the possibility of reaching ₹75 crore if Sunday collections witness another jump.
The film is already outperforming Oppenheimer, which recorded a smaller first Saturday growth of around 16%. If current trends continue, The Odyssey is likely to surpass Oppenheimer’s opening weekend by more than 20%. It is also expected to comfortably cross Oppenheimer’s lifetime India collection of ₹159 crore, with industry estimates now pointing toward a potential ₹200 crore finish.
Globally, The Odyssey has emerged as one of the year’s biggest cinematic successes. Strong reviews from both critics and audiences have significantly boosted its box office prospects. In North America, opening weekend projections have climbed from around USD 100 million to over USD 125 million, while several international markets have also revised their forecasts upward.
With exceptional word-of-mouth and growing momentum worldwide, Christopher Nolan’s latest epic appears firmly on course to cross the USD 1 billion mark at the global box office, making it one of the biggest theatrical events of the year.
