Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to the excise policy and kept in custody for 6 days, which ends today. The central agency will present Kejriwal in the Rouse Avenue Court at 2 pm today i.e. Thursday. Kejriwal was sent to ED custody till March 28 by Rouse Avenue court judge Kaveri Baweja.
According to the information received from the sources, Arvind Kejriwal’s custody may be demanded by the CBI. It is to be noted that, in a video message on Wednesday, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal claimed that on Thursday her husband would make a ‘big revelation’ in the court regarding the liquor scam case.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 after two hours of questioning by ED officials at his official residence.
On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court refused to grant any relief to Kejriwal. Kejriwal argued during the hearing that his arrest and the remand order passed by Judge Baweja were illegal and he deserved to be released from custody.
The High Court, in response, said that the investigating agency would have to be given an opportunity to file its reply. ED has named Kejriwal as the main conspirator in the alleged liquor policy scam case.
ED says that Kejriwal has done this scam with the connivance of other Delhi government ministers, AAP leaders and other persons. The agency has alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has benefited from the proceeds of the liquor scam.
