Karpuri Thakur, Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and MS Swaminathan were awarded the highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday. Four great personalities of the country – former Chief Minister of Bihar Jananayak Karpuri Thakur, former Prime Ministers of the country PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh and famous agricultural scientist of the country MS Swaminathan have been given this honor posthumously, which was received by their families.
Senior BJP leader LK Advani was also supposed to receive the Bharat Ratna, but he was not present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The President will visit his residence on March 31 to bestow him with this highest civilian honour, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other dignitaries may also be present during the ceremony.
President Draupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest honor, on former Bihar Chief Minister Jananayak Karpuri Thakur. The posthumous Bharat Ratna award was announced by the Modi government at the Centre.
Ramnath Thakur, son of late Karpuri Thakur, accepted the honor at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s son PV Prabhakar Rao received the Bharat Ratna posthumously from the President.
Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Bharat Ratna Award was received by his grandson Jayant Chaudhary. Chaudhary Charan Singh was the former Prime Minister of the country and he was also considered as the Messiah of farmers.

Many central government ministers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge.
