He said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President Stalin, MDMK leader Vaiko and many senior leaders of ‘India’ block will address the election campaign program of ‘India’ block. Vaiko’s son from Tiruchi and senior MDMK leader Durai Vaiko is the ‘India’ block candidate.
Tiruchi is considered an auspicious place to start the election campaign. But DMK, which is based on Periyar’s ideology of atheism, is also starting its electoral journey from here. Tiruchi was called ‘Tiruppumunai Tiruchi’ (Turning Point Tiruchi) by Karunanidhi, while Stalin also referred to Tiruchi with his nostalgia.
Minister of State K.N. Nehru informed that Chief Minister Stalin will visit all the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state and during this he will introduce the India Bloc candidates.
Out of all 39 Lok Sabha seats in the state, DMK is contesting 21 seats, Congress on nine seats, CPI-M on two seats, CPI on two seats, VCK on two seats, MDMK on one seat, IUML on one seat and KMDK is contesting elections.
The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance won 38 out of 39 seats in the 2019 general elections and now CM Stalin is aiming for a clean sweep in the 2024 elections.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in his address said that party workers and local leaders will have to work hard at the ground level if all the candidates of the ‘India’ block are to be assured of complete victory.
