Sep 13 – Ahead of the Gowri Habba or Gowri-Ganesha celebration on September 18, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has planned to operate 1,200 additional buses across the state to accommodate the hundreds of people who are expected to travel during the weekend.
“The additional buses will be deployed on September 15, 16, and 17,” the KSRTC said in a news release. “Special buses will be operated from various locations throughout Bengaluru on September 18.” On September 15, 16, and 17, the majority of buses would leave Bengaluru for other cities in the state and other states.
The special buses will be exclusively operated from Bengaluru Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubbali, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places.
From Mysuru Road Bus Station, the special buses will only be operated in the direction of Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, and Madikeri. From the BMTC Bus Station in Shanthinagar (TTMC), all first-class special buses will be run to Madurai, Kumbakonam, Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and other locations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
According to the KSRTC, provisions have been created to offer computerised reservation tickets in advance for the special buses. By visiting http://www.ksrtc.karnataka.gov.in, travellers can make online reservations for tickets. Through 691 counters in Karnataka and other states, bookings can be made in advance for both special and regularly scheduled KSRTC buses.
If four or more people purchase tickets for a single trip, the fare will be discounted by 5%, and if onward and return tickets are purchased at the same time, a discount of 10% will be applied to the return trip tickets.
Additionally, based on traffic demands, special buses would be run from each taluk or district bus stop under the KSRTC’s supervision.
