India enjoyed another successful day in shooting at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, with Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet winning gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event and the men’s rifle trio securing silver in the 50m 3-position team event.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet produced a dominant performance in the final, scoring 484.6 points to finish at the top and set a new Asian record. They finished 6.6 points ahead of South Korea, while Iran took the bronze medal.
The victory was particularly significant for both shooters after they missed out on individual medals earlier in the Games. Kamaljeet had finished ninth in the men’s 10m air pistol qualification, while Suruchi finished 26th in the women’s event.
India also claimed silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil and Niraj Kumar combined for 1,762 points, finishing four points behind gold medallists China. South Korea won bronze with 1,751 points.
The Indian rifle team had been in contention for gold after the kneeling and prone stages but slipped behind during the standing series. Tomar and Niraj nevertheless advanced to the individual final, finishing third and fourth respectively in qualification.
The two medals add to India’s growing shooting haul at the Asian Games and continue the country’s strong showing at the range. With more individual events still to come, Indian shooters will look to add to the medal tally in the remaining competitions.
