Ahmedabad, Nov 18: Experienced marathon runners are eagerly preparing for the upcoming Adani Ahmedabad Marathon 2023 to be held on November 26, making it one of the major events in the city. Participants also include 83-year-old Munindra Vasavada, who is set to become the oldest runner in the marathon. Vasavada, who has been participating in marathons for 8-10 years, shared his enthusiasm and how running has become an important part of his daily routine and family lifestyle.
Vasavada’s granddaughter joins him in running events, and his son, an avid runner, has participated in 15 full marathons in both the United States and India. For Vasavada, running marathons is not just a hobby; It flows in the blood of the family.
Hemal Shah, President of Ahmedabad Distance Runners Group, expressed her enthusiasm for the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, calling it the signature event of the city. Having participated since the first edition in 2017 and even during the virtual edition during COVID times, Shah is excited about the new route at the Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park.
Injit Anand, project lead at a real estate firm, sees endurance sports as a lifestyle component. Having participated in various triathlon events around the world and completed several marathons, Anand sees such goals as a means to stay fit and healthy. He is looking forward to new routes and challenges in this edition of the marathon.
The upcoming marathon will start and end at the picturesque Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park. Former Indian cricket captain Mithali Raj and Gujarati actor Malhar Thakar will flag off the event, which will heighten the anticipation and celebration of healthy lifestyles in Ahmedabad.
