Aaryavir Sehwag Earns Maiden India U19 Call-Up for Australia Series
Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, has earned his maiden call-up to the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming One-Day series against Australia U19.
The BCCI selection committee announced the squads on Thursday, with Aaryavir included in the 15-member One-Day team. The series will begin on September 18 in Rajkot and will feature three 50-over matches.
Sehwag and Dravid’s Sons in the Same Squad
The selection has created considerable interest among cricket fans as Aaryavir will share the India U19 dressing room with Anvay Dravid, the son of former India captain Rahul Dravid.
Both youngsters have been selected for the One-Day squad, bringing the sons of two former India teammates together in national colours more than 14 years after their fathers last appeared together for India.
Anvay, a wicketkeeper-batter, has retained his place after impressing during India’s recent U19 tour of Sri Lanka, where he scored 14 and 87 in two Youth ODIs.
Aaryavir’s Impressive Age-Group Record
Aaryavir has already made headlines in domestic age-group cricket. During the 2024 Cooch Behar Trophy, he smashed a remarkable 297 off 309 deliveries against Meghalaya, falling just three runs short of a triple century.
He also scored 496 runs in the 2025 edition of the tournament. The young batter is currently featuring for West Delhi Lions in the 2026 Delhi Premier League, where his aggressive style has attracted attention.
Australia Series Schedule
India U19 will play Australia in three One-Day matches in Rajkot on September 18, 21 and 23.
The teams will then play two Multi-Day fixtures, with the first scheduled in Rajkot from September 27 to 30 and the second in Ahmedabad from October 5 to 8.
Lakshya Raichandani will captain the India U19 One-Day side, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as vice-captain.
A New Chapter for Aaryavir
While Aaryavir’s famous surname will inevitably bring additional attention, his performances in domestic age-group cricket have already provided a strong foundation for his selection.
The Australia series represents an important opportunity for the young batter to make his mark at the international youth level. For Indian cricket fans, it will also be a fascinating reunion of sorts, with the next generation of the Sehwag and Dravid families now set to share the field for India U19.
