Sep 8 – After defeating Nepal in their final league match, Team India successfully moved to the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023. However, weather hampered India’s first two games in the competition. Rain delayed the start of the second innings in the highly anticipated match versus Pakistan. Similarly, the second innings in the match against Nepal was limited to only 23 overs.
Pakistan, on the other hand, was the first team to qualify for the tournament’s Super 4 stage. They started their Super Four campaign with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh. In the meantime, India has yet to play its first game in the Super Four stage.
The epic Super 4s match between India and Pakistan is set to take place on Sunday (September 10) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nonetheless, there is some risk that rain will disrupt the highly anticipated Indo-Pak match.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), according to a recent ESPNcricinfo article, has taken a proactive step by providing a reserve day for the highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India. This decision is intended to address worries about bad weather potentially disrupting the game. If rain or poor weather forces a halt to play during the historic match, it will resume on September 11, 2023, at the point where it was paused.
Aside from the final, this match is the only one with a designated reserve day, emphasising its significance and the intense anticipation surrounding it. The ACC is likely to make an official announcement regarding the inclusion of the reserve day in the near future, ensuring that this highly anticipated showdown takes place without undue disruptions due to inclement weather.
“A reserve day has been scheduled for the Super11 Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match between India and Pakistan on September 10th, 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.” If bad weather prevents play during the India-Pakistan game, the game will resume on September 11th, 2023, from where it was suspended. In such a case, ticket holders are urged to save their match tickets, which would stay valid and will be used on the reserve day,” ACC was cited as saying by the ANI.
