Gaza, November 25: A 4-day ceasefire between Hamas and Israel has been implemented from Friday. The devastating war between Israel and Hamas has been going on since October 7. During this war, a four-day humanitarian ceasefire agreement came into force in Gaza. This ceasefire is temporary. It is being told that at least 50 hostages will be released during this ceasefire period.
According to the report of Xinhua news agency, an agreement was reached on Wednesday. This agreement was reached with the mediation of America, Qatar and Egypt. Under this, in the first phase, Hamas has said that it will release about 13 hostages at 4 pm on Friday.
Hamas has been ruling Gaza since 2007. Regarding the release of the hostages, Hamas said that it would hand over the hostages to Egypt and in return Israel would also release 150 Palestinians from Israeli prisons. Women and children are also included in these 150 Palestinians.
Under the four-day humanitarian ceasefire agreement, Israel will stop all its military operations in the Gaza Strip and at least 200 trucks will be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip during this period. These trucks will include four fuel trucks, trucks filled with humanitarian aid and medical supplies.
According to the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, the ceasefire will also facilitate the opening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt. Gail Hirsch, the country’s coordinator for hostages and missing persons, issued a statement saying Israel had notified the families of the hostages who were scheduled to be released.
Gail Hirsch said that all families whose loved ones are on the list have been informed by liaison officers, as well as all the families of the hostages.
Israel has published in exchange a list of names of 300 people who are being released. In this list, the number of teenagers in the age group of 16 to 18 years is high. These include some 14 year old youth.
At a press conference, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari said the first hostages expected to be released would involve members of the same family.
“They will be 13 in number, all hostages, children and all women from the same family will be kept in the same batch,” Al-Ansari was quoted as saying by CNN.
The Israeli army warned Hamas that the Israeli army is ready to enforce the ceasefire, but if there is even the slightest violation by Hamas, there will be a serious reaction.
Regarding the hostages, Israeli officials said that 235 people have been held captive in Gaza. About 40 of them are reportedly children and the hostages also include Israelis and foreign nationals.
