Russian President Vladimir Putin has been accused by Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Alexei Navalny, Russia’s most prominent opposition leader and a staunch critic of President Vladimir Putin, of murdering her husband, who reportedly died after coming out for a walk. Yulia Navalnaya has resolved to take his work forward.
“Vladimir Putin killed Alexei Navalny, my husband, the father of my children, three days ago,” Navalnaya, 47, said in a nine-minute video on Monday. Vladimir Putin took away my most important thing from me. The person who was closest to me and whom I loved the most.”
Alexei Navalny’s widow, Yulia Navalnaya, was an economist. She left her job to raise her children. In an interview he said, “When you are not a politician, but when you see the worst things happening against your family, it definitely radicalizes you.”
The most important thing we can do for Alexey and ourselves is to continue the fight he started with more ferocity and more enthusiasm.
She has accused the authorities of hiding her husband’s body. Navalny’s spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh was quoted by the BBC as saying Navalny’s mother was told by authorities that they were conducting a chemical analysis of his body, so his body would not be handed over to the family for two weeks.
The death of Navalny, considered Putin’s fiercest critic, was confirmed by the opposition on Saturday.
Putin was blamed by Western leaders, including US President Joe Biden, for Navalny’s death before Alexei Navalny’s widow, Yulia Navalny, described the blame as “unacceptable” and “arrogant”.
