President Draupadi Murmu has left for Mauritius to participate in the National Day celebrations, where she will be the Chief Guest. President Draupadi Murmu will visit Mauritius from March 11 to 13 to promote India-Mauritius relations.
National Day of Mauritius is celebrated on 12 March every year. While the President of India Draupadi Murmu is participating as a special guest in this year’s ceremony, on the other hand the Indian Navy, two ships of the first training squadron of the Indian Navy – INS Thir and CGS Sarathi are also present on this occasion. will take part in the ceremony.

President Murmu will also inaugurate 14 India-supported projects along with Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth during her three-day visit. It shows India’s broad development partnership and multifaceted nature.
Earlier, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated an airstrip and a pier along with six other community development projects at Agalega Island.
Last week, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that after the year 2000, President Draupadi Murmu is going to attend Mauritius’ National Day celebrations as a special guest and she is the sixth president to do so. The President’s visit to Mauritius underscores the longstanding and enduring relationship between the two countries.
During her three-day visit, President Draupadi Murmu will hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnaoth and the seventh President of Mauritius Prithviraj Singh Rupan. Apart from this, President Murmu will also hold talks with the Chief Justice of Mauritius Supreme Court, Speaker of Mauritius National Assembly and other important Mauritian leaders.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the President will also witness the exchange of key bilateral agreements between the two countries that will strengthen the strong bilateral institutional cooperation and capacity building cooperation.
Apart from all this, President Murmu will pay tribute to the leaders of Mauritius at the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and visit the historical and cultural sites there.
The President will also visit Immigrant Ghat, Intercontinental Slavery Museum and Holy Ganga Talab during his tour. Indian indentured laborers were the first to arrive in Mauritius.
During her visit to Mauritius, President Draupadi Murmu will address members of the Indian diaspora, Mauritian youth and socio-cultural organizations at the University of Mauritius and address the Indian community at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
