London, October 13: Former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, who is currently heading Hamas’ expatriate office from Qatar, has called for widespread protests across the Muslim world on Friday in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. According to a Daily Mail report, Meshaal urged people of neighboring countries to join the fight against Israel.
“[We] must take to the squares and streets of the Arab and Islamic world on Friday,” he said. Meshaal stressed that the governments and citizens of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt have an important responsibility to support the Palestinians. He specifically called on the Jordanian people, saying, “The tribes of Jordan, the sons of Jordan, the brothers and sisters of Jordan… This is the moment of truth, and the borders are close to you; you all know your responsibility.”
Jordan and Lebanon are home to the largest numbers of Palestinian refugees, the Daily Mail reports.
Hamas itself reiterated Meshaal’s call for Friday’s uprising, with the Israeli-run Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) indicating that Hamas urged its supporters in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel to join forces as al- Be referred to. -Aksa flood.
