Russia is considering retaliatory measures against Sweden’s NATO membership. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia will closely monitor Sweden’s activities after joining NATO and will take necessary action accordingly.
On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that we will closely monitor what Sweden will do after joining NATO and we will make further preparations based on this.
According to the report of Xinhua news agency, Maria Zakharova said that if any threat to Russia’s national security arises in any way, Moscow will definitely take all necessary measures to stop those threats.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova further said that Sweden’s policy of non-alignment was very helpful in maintaining stability in Northern Europe. But, when Sweden gets NATO membership, then Sweden’s sovereignty will weaken.
It is noteworthy that the Hungarian Parliament had approved the proposal of Sweden joining NATO on Monday, which cleared the way for Sweden to join NATO.
