Kolkata, October 17: Sumit Roy, personal assistant to Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Monday for questioning in the job-for-school case in West Bengal.
Sources say that Roy reached the ED office located in the central government office complex in Salt Lake at around 12:30 pm. It is noteworthy that he has challenged the summons of ED and the hearing regarding this challenge is to be held today.
According to sources, Roy’s questioning is related to a corporate entity whose name had cropped up during the ED investigation.
Last week, Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Narula Banerjee was interrogated for eight hours by the ED. He was summoned in connection with his previous role as a director of the said corporate entity.
The investigating agency had also called Abhishek Banerjee’s parents, but they did not appear for questioning.
It is important to note that Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is being questioned by both the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as part of their parallel investigations in this case. He recently handed over hard copies of documents related to his properties and assets to the central agency investigators.
