Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has addressed the ongoing leadership tussle in Karnataka, stating that he, along with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, will step in to resolve the impasse between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Speaking to reporters, Kharge said that the party high command would “give the medicine when required,” signalling a firm intervention to settle the escalating tensions. The Karnataka Congress has been grappling with internal friction amid reports of a power-sharing deal allegedly agreed upon earlier, which suggested that Shivakumar might take over as chief minister mid-term. While Shivakumar has avoided commenting directly, calling it a “secret deal,” the divide between the two leaders has become increasingly visible. Kharge noted that discussions will be held in Delhi to address the situation and reassured that the issue will be resolved in the party’s interest. With Karnataka being one of the few states where Congress holds a strong majority, the leadership crisis has raised concerns about governance stability and the party’s image. The intervention from the top leadership aims to ease tensions, restore unity, and ensure the government continues to function smoothly.
