New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major reshuffle of its national organisational team under party president Nitin Nabin, bringing several experienced leaders back into important positions and introducing changes across the party’s central structure.
The reshuffle comes at a politically significant time, with the BJP preparing for upcoming electoral challenges. The new team includes 13 national vice-presidents, eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries, along with changes in several organisational responsibilities.
Vasundhara Raje and Ram Madhav Appointed Vice-Presidents
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has been retained as a national vice-president, while former BJP general secretary Ram Madhav has also been given the same position.
Odisha leader Baijayant Jay Panda is another prominent name included among the national vice-presidents.
The inclusion of senior leaders with extensive political and organisational experience is being seen as an attempt to strengthen the party’s central leadership ahead of important political battles.
Smriti Irani Gets Major Organisational Responsibility
Former Union minister Smriti Irani has returned to a key position in the BJP’s national organisation after being appointed a national general secretary.
Irani, who has previously held several important responsibilities within the party, is expected to play a significant role in the BJP’s political and organisational activities. Her appointment is particularly notable ahead of the upcoming electoral contests, including the crucial Uttar Pradesh battle.
Piyush Goyal Given Treasurer’s Role
Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed the party’s national treasurer as part of the new organisational arrangement.
The reshuffle combines senior political figures with organisational leaders and new faces, reflecting an effort to create a team capable of handling both political campaigns and the party’s expanding organisational requirements.
Amit Malviya Replaced as IT Cell Chief
One of the notable changes is in the BJP’s digital organisation. Amit Malviya has been replaced as the head of the party’s IT cell, marking a significant change in the BJP’s digital and communications structure.
The IT wing has played an important role in the BJP’s election campaigns and online outreach in recent years, making the change particularly significant.
Focus on Women and Social Representation
The new team also includes a notable representation of women and leaders from minority communities. Reports indicate that 10 women leaders have been included in the new national team, while six leaders from minority communities have also received organisational positions.
The appointments are being viewed as part of the BJP’s broader effort to maintain social and regional representation within its national structure.
A Strategic Reset Under Nitin Nabin
This is among the first major organisational exercises undertaken by BJP president Nitin Nabin. The changes indicate an effort to combine experienced leaders with fresh organisational energy while strengthening the party ahead of upcoming elections.
With senior figures such as Vasundhara Raje, Ram Madhav and Smriti Irani receiving important responsibilities, the reshuffle could have wider political significance in the BJP’s strategy for the coming electoral cycle.
The new appointments take immediate effect and are expected to shape the BJP’s organisational functioning and political strategy in the months ahead.
