Virginia Giuffre, a prominent advocate against sexual abuse and a key figure in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, has died by suicide at the age of 41 at her home in Neergabby, Western Australia.
Giuffre gained international attention after alleging that, as a teenager, she was trafficked by Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell to powerful men, including Prince Andrew. In 2022, Prince Andrew settled a civil lawsuit brought by Giuffre without admitting wrongdoing.
Her family described her as a “fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking” and emphasized her unwavering commitment to justice for survivors.
Giuffre’s death underscores the profound and lasting impact of trauma. Her advocacy brought significant attention to issues of sexual exploitation and inspired many survivors to come forward. She is survived by her three children.
